Christmas gatherings can come with all types of emotions. We might feel frustrated, annoyed, or just tired of being around people. We may even struggle to feel thankful for the people we're with. It's easy for us to get focused on ourselves and start to overlook the people around us when they're getting on our nerves. While we may not be able to change them, we can start to change our hearts and the ways we interact with others.
In today's reading, you'll explore one of the psalms that talks about joy and thanksgiving. We may not find ourselves in the greatest, most fulfilling situations around the holidays, but we can always look for God's love, goodness, and faithfulness. We can focus on those qualities of God because they're always present and available for us to access, which can help us remember to be thankful and grateful for the people we're with.
Every person in our lives is there for a reason. When we view people from an angle of gratitude, we can start to recognize the ways they are gifts to our lives. We can look through our imperfections and be thankful we have these people at all. Then, when we experience tough times, we'll be more prepared to choose thankfulness and lean into our communities for help.
Each day, we have the chance to approach life with an attitude of thankfulness. We can view others as gifts given to us by God and choose to be thankful for each other.

About this Plan
At the end of each year, we have the chance to reflect on everything that's happened and all of the people around us. There’s so much we can be thankful for every year — even if things didn’t work exactly how we planned. God has given us so much, and the birth of Jesus is a great way to focus on all of the gifts we’ve received this year.
