Have you ever opened a gift at Christmas or your birthday and had no idea who gave it to you? Maybe the card got lost, and in a room full of people, you're filled with excitement for the gift, and dread for having no clue who gave you the gift. It's like mental gymnastics! Often, there are times we don't feel worthy of receiving such a gift, so we tend to push it away a little.
Our key verse for today reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from God. Every blessing you and I have ever received comes from God, regardless of how we feel in the moment. We may feel undeserving, or even forget to pause and embrace that gift with gratitude. Remembering who sends good things our way tells us a lot about God's character.
The greatest part is that we can never do anything to earn the gifts. If we could, then they wouldn't be gifts. God is generous, and that means we get to receive God's gifts simply because we are loved.
We are remembered, even when we feel forgotten. God's ability to give us good things is not dependent on our abilities, but on God's goodness and faithfulness. When something good comes your way, remember who sent it, and what that says about the God you get to have a relationship with.

About this Plan
At the end of each year, we have the chance to reflect on everything that's happened and all of the people around us. There’s so much we can be thankful for every year — even if things didn’t work exactly how we planned. God has given us so much, and the birth of Jesus is a great way to focus on all of the gifts we’ve received this year.
