Prayers, Guidance and Wisdom for DadsSample
I Will Live My Life as an Example to Follow
Scripture doesn’t let men off the hook very quickly. All you need to do is be self-controlled, respectable, wise, faithful, and full of love and patience.
Being men of God is challenging. If it weren’t, there would be no way of telling God’s sons apart from those who don’t know or follow him. And that’s the whole point—to be men who are noticed for being different, a better different, so much so that younger men want to become like them too.
A man who walks in self-control controls his mind, body, and spirit. He serves one Master and not any that comes in the form of gluttony, substances, addictions, or anything else that prioritizes the will of the flesh over the will of God.
This lifestyle is a lofty goal. We must completely surrender to the Holy Spirit and follow his will to live it out.
The respectable, wise, faith-filled, love-filled, and patient man is the one who strives after God, wanting to accomplish all that he has called him to. When this man makes mistakes, he’s also willing and humble enough to repent and return to the Father.
You will never become 100 percent all that Titus 2 says godly men ought to be because being a man after God is challenging. But if you strive for it, you will indeed become an excellent example.
Let's Pray:
Dear Lord, you have given me a high calling as an example for younger men. How I live my life matters. Help me become a man who lives as Jesus would so that others behind me also want to follow you. Amen.
