Prayers, Guidance and Wisdom for Dads

DAY 3 OF 5

What Matters Most is That I Follow God

Men, even teenagers, are often judged for being “too much” of this or “not enough” of that. Society has put a lot of demands on how men should act and be.

You’re told to be bold and take a stand, but when you do, you’re told you’re controlling. You stand back and say nothing, then you’re accused of being spineless. There’s no keeping up with the message to be soft yet hard, bold and yet quiet. It’s seemingly impossible.

So what should you do instead? Become a man who follows the Lord and grows in godliness. When you do that, sometimes the world will appreciate you, and sometimes it won’t. But you’ll know you’re doing what God calls you to, and he will bless you.

Much like fitness time and eating right will help your body be in good shape, the same focus and effort are needed to be in a great spiritual condition. Immerse yourself in God’s Word daily. That’s where you’ll learn when to stand up and when silence is needed. As you read and meditate, you’ll grow in discernment.

Your efforts to improve in other areas will result in many earthly benefits, but only your efforts to grow in godliness will last through eternity.

Silence the voice of the world. Open your Bible and listen to the voice of God.

Let’s Pray:

Dear Lord, only you know the path I should take in this life. Help me not to focus on becoming who or what society says but on becoming the man your Word wisely directs me to be. Amen.
