ExodusSample
Let’s take some time to reflect on the theme for this week – the setting up and consecration of the Tabernacle and priests. In many ways there have been a lot of regulations that the Israelites needed to follow.
Often, we don’t like the thought of following rules or laws, it can feel a bit forced. What these passages can show us is that relationship with a holy God does have requirements. What’s amazing is that because of Jesus, the requirements have been met. Now, we seek to live consecrated lives in relationship with God. This means that we don’t need to focus on laws but rather on Jesus, who said, “if you love me, you will keep my commands” (John 14:15). Rather than reading this as if Jesus is standing over us offering an angry ultimatum, perhaps we should read it as Jesus saying that as we focus on loving Him, obeying his commands will come naturally to us.
