ExodusSample
Today's reading starts with the series of plagues sent to Pharaoh in Egypt for the refusal to let God’s people go. It becomes obvious that Pharaoh’s will is strong. We will continue to read how Pharaoh hardened his heart in the coming days. God was very intentional with each plague He sent, using the very things Pharaoh and the Egyptians would worship to prove the limit of their power. Even the magicians eventually recognize the limit in their own power. Pharaoh had a choice with each plague to submit to the Lord or to reject God. With each rejection, his heart grew harder.
Just like Pharaoh, every choice can lead us to repentance and deeper relationship with the Lord, becoming more of who He has created us to be, or can harden our hearts towards God, pushing us away from our relationship with Him.
