The story of Exodus chapter 11 foreshadows the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Just as the firstborn sons of Egypt were killed, Jesus Christ, who was the firstborn of Mary, was also killed as a sacrifice for the sins of humanity. Jesus Christ's death is the ultimate sacrifice that frees humanity from bondage to sin, just as the Israelites were freed from bondage in Egypt.
Also, in Exodus chapter 11, we read about Pharaoh's hardened heart again. It’s a reminder that a hard heart can lead to destruction. Just as Pharaoh refused to listen to God's warning, many people today refuse to listen to God's word, leading to their own destruction. However, the Gospel reminds us that even the hardest heart can be softened through faith in Jesus Christ, who offers salvation to all who believe.
Why do you feel it was important for God to introduce acts of remembrance for the children of Israel (and for us today as Christians)?

From muddy ocean floors and sea walls, to manna from heaven, and water from rock. This plan follows the story of the Exodus, when God is revealed as Yahweh. This 8-week plan has a theme of the Exodus narrative each week as well as two memory passages to focus on.
