#Jesus - Daily DevotionalsSample
#ReadyToGive (Sibylle Beck)
What is your heart holding on to? What is important to you? Have a look at what you spend your money on.
Jesus encourages us not to collect riches that will one day have no value, but to collect treasures in heaven that will never decay and that nobody can steal from us.
We should invest in a secure and imperishable value. Jesus speaks about this in relation to our possession and the financial means that are available to us. He challenges us to back the right horse with our resources and invest for the long term and sensibly.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also!” Here Jesus challenges us to reflect on and analyze our hearts rationally and honestly. I can identify what is really important to me by what I spend my money on. My life priorities are reflected in my expenses.
In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus concludes with the request: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven!” As followers of Jesus, we are called to bring heaven to earth, to be the hands and feet of God’s love, to live with mercy, create peace, and stand up for justice. These are the imperishable treasures we should spend our money on.
Actionstep:
Reflect on what you spend most of your money on, where your treasure is, and whether this corresponds with Jesus’ values. Where do you have to correct something? Ask Jesus what you should spend your money on. Where should you invest?
