Resilient: Powerful Hope in a Dangerous WorldSample
Death is the greatest equalizer. We are all going to die – it’s a fact of life.
But there is a caveat.
For those who have confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior have received the gift of eternal life, and it starts now. When we are saved, we receive the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, and His authority gives life and empowers us to live righteously.
For those who are spiritually dead, they have the indwelling presence of sin, holding them captive to death. The empowering presence of the Holy Spirit – the very essence of God Himself – is the only reason we can resist our flesh and please God.
The Holy Spirit is the same power that raised Jesus from the grave. It’s the same power that makes us more like Jesus, and it’s the power that enables us to show the love and grace of Jesus to the people around us.
Righteousness doesn’t depend on our own power but on God's unlimited, infinite power. Righteousness is available to all who hear the gospel, and righteousness is where life begins.
Reflection Questions
- How are you making sure that the dead are hearing the gospel?
- What is your relationship like with the Holy Spirit? Do you trust His power and authority?
- Do you live as though eternity starts now? How can you live in the reality of the resurrection?
