Following the Trail of God's Promises: The 40-Day ChallengeSample
Following the Trail of God's Promises
For the past 40 days, we have read biblical texts, and the personal reflections of people that these texts inspired. We were additionally challenged to take some practical steps. We followed the trail of God’s great promises from the beginning of time through which, step by step, the history of salvation has been revealed, and which reached its culmination in the person of Jesus Christ. Yes, that’s the peak, but that’s not the end of this Story! The New Testament is full of reports of people whose lives were changed because of a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, because of an encounter with His saving work, because of an encounter with His life-giving word. And even that is not the end! This extraordinary Story continues throughout history until and including our time. This extraordinary Story can continue throughout our lives as well.
In the coming days, as we reflect on Jesus’ suffering, death and triumphant Resurrection throughout Holy Week, let us be aware, more than ever before, that we are part of a Great Story - God’s Story. Our personal salvation is part of the plan of salvation for mankind. We are partakers of God’s great promises through Jesus Christ, who brings healing and peace:
“He was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5
Let’s continue to tell that Story with our words and with our lives.
Continue the Story
Tell someone your story about how meeting Jesus changed your life. Keep talking!
Or…
Maybe you don’t feel like a part of this Great Story, or maybe you don’t have the experience of a personal encounter with Jesus yet. Take courage and tell Jesus in your own words exactly how you feel about it. Dare to talk to someone about it, maybe it can be one of us from Challenge 40.

About this Plan
"Following the Trail of God's Promises" includes biblical texts and corresponding personal reflections from 40 different authors on God’s perfect plan of salvation, visible throughout the history of humanity - from the creation of the world and Adam, through Noah, Abraham, David - until the coming of the Messiah Jesus Christ. This extraordinary salvation Story continues even now, and this plan wants to encourage readers to recognize themselves in it.
