37. Resurrection and Life

In John 11 we see contrasting themes - in the midst of death, Jesus offers life. Now, two thousand years after Jesus said these words, His life-giving resurrection continues to transform lives.

Though I have never turned away from the crucially important decision of turning over my life to Him, I often overlook, or even neglect, the reality of resurrection power in my everyday life. When facing difficulties at work, I frequently rely on my own ideas and resources instead of relying on prayer and God’s power. When we see unjust practices and actions around us, we can get discouraged and doubt God’s life-giving power to make a difference. Sometimes struggling with relationships or financial difficulties can cause us to lose a sense of hope. It’s easy to forget that Jesus is the resurrection and the life when we face hardships, experience setbacks, or even when we receive unexpected constructive criticism.

As we approach Easter, please remember the power of Christ in you. Considering your own spiritual journey, thank God for the new life He has brought you, and His continued answers to prayer. Think about the resurrection life He may want to reveal to you in a current challenging situation. Jesus’ promise of resurrection life was not meant just for our future bodily resurrection, but for all the broken elements in our daily lives that need His powerful healing touch.
