Women Who Struggle With Lust

DAY 2 OF 5

1 John 2:16 says, “For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.”

Often we can appear like we have it all together; we are on time, have a nice outfit, and manage to smile and say all the right things. However, our internal heart and mind can be far from put together. It can be easy to hide behind what we are perceived to be rather than unpacking what is going on inside. Internally we can be longing for more attention, money, achievements, sex, power, etc. I should mention some of these things are not unbiblical to search for; wanting to be a high achiever or have a healthy sex life is fine, but when we step outside of biblical grounds, which we often do, it turns dangerous.

Our verse from 1 John explains that when lust causes us to step out of biblical grounds to fulfill our flesh, we are being filled by the world and not completed by God. This world will tell you to give in to any impulse you have to feel better, but God values self-control. The serpent tempted Eve in the garden to give in to her lust, the lust of the flesh, eyes, and pride of life. The serpent told her how much better off she would be if she disobeyed God. He lied to her, and he will lie to you. Today, let’s pray for self-control against impulses.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for being a holy God and making way for Your people to be holy as well. We pray against the desire to give in to our lust; we pray we turn to You for our ultimate fulfillment and not the things of this world, which will fade. We love You. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

About this Plan

Women Who Struggle With Lust

Lust can take many forms; some may struggle with sexual lust, and some may lust after more money, status, or a bigger platform. No matter how one wrestles with lust, lust will always steal your comfort. At its core, lust is actually a lack of contentment, and this 5-day plan will help you lean on the source of contentment which is the living word of God.
