Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample
Recipe for Longevity
The Bible declares that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45b).
The heart of man is like a well. When good thoughts and words that bless and build are spoken, it blesses the one that releases them before they reach the person they are intended for. A person who refreshes others gets refreshed himself.
The Samaritan woman came to draw water from the well at the hottest hour of the day. On receiving the living water from the Messiah, she forgot about the water and left the pot at the well. Jesus who was hungry, had His fill by ministering to her. Later, He told His disciples, “I have food to eat which you do not know of.”
The results of Jesus’ words to the Samaritan woman, were amazing. She was set free from her shady past and now had a new hope, as she believed in Jesus, the Messiah. She was so full of joy that she told the whole town about Jesus. They too, came, saw, heard and believed.
Just like Jesus, if we speak words of faith, hope and love, we will have a positive and life-giving effect on the people we speak with. At the same time, we will refrain our tongues from speaking evil and deceit. When we speak evil of someone, and misrepresent the truth, it does more harm to us than the person it is intended for. God has made us in His image and likeness. God spoke, and all things were made. Therefore, we too have the power, in our words, to speak life and hope and end up living a good and long life ourselves.
Prayer
Father in heaven, touch our lives and sanctify our hearts by the blood of Your Son Jesus. Cause us to live our lives with the recipe You have given us, so that we may live long and influence many to enter Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
