Advent in Exile - Christmas Longing With Isaiah

DAY 29 OF 35

In these readings of Isaiah, the unworthy are welcomed. The foreigner and the eunuch were both considered unworthy in Israel, but God says they are welcome through faith in the Living God. Israel always was God’s instrument to call all people unto Himself. Contrasted here, as well, are the wicked in Israel who demonstrate profound rebellion and idolatry. Many reject their own True and Living Yahweh for wicked religions of the land.

It isn’t made right until the True King of Israel comes in the baby Jesus, born to be the light to all people. He is the One who will make peace with His Father for sinful humanity. He is the way, the truth and the life for all people. The first Advent of Christ marked the breaking into history of the Redeemer! He is the welcomer and redeemer of the foreigner, which we all are. We look forward to the setting right of the woes of this world in His Second Advent. Watch for these themes in our readings in Isaiah 56 & 57.

"In Light of this Advent Season, what is your heart longing for?"

About this Plan

Advent in Exile - Christmas Longing With Isaiah

Join us for the next 35 days as we discover the Christmas longing the prophet Isaiah felt as he waited for the Messiah to be born. Prepare your hearts, in expectation, anticipation, and gratitude for the coming of Christ, just as the Israelites who were in exile did years ago! This reading plan celebrates the season of advent and was designed to start the Sunday after Thanksgiving
