Advent in Exile - Christmas Longing With IsaiahSample

The world we live in is full of conflict, fear, and violence. We lock our doors and our cars, set our alarms, live behind gates etc. One only has to listen to or read the news to hear about the evil happening locally and around the world.
This passage in Isaiah always gives me hope. This is the world I want to live in. A world where children are safe and all is at peace. Our hope is not in the peace and safety this world offers. Our only hope is in Jesus Christ and His promises. Jesus offers to all who believe in Him true peace and safety.
Isaiah gives us a picture of what this promised time will look like. This will be a time when His peace will reign over all. It promises hope. There will be no harm or destruction, no fear. In this time, the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD. We can trust in this promise and in it be comforted today.
In the Luke passage, Mary knew and believed this assurance and we call her blessed. Mary trusted that God was mindful of us. She experienced first-hand His mercy and the power of His will as she felt the life growing inside her. She sang of His promises and praised Him for His blessings now and for those yet to be.
