Experience Christmas: A Family DevotionalSample
"JOY to the World"
Hear it - Listen to the song: "Joy to the World" by Bethel Music Kids
Read it -
When Jesus was born, God wanted some shepherds to know that He was with them. An angel appeared to them at night and said, "Don't be afraid! I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people" (Luke 2:10).
Hearing that God was with them, the shepherds were filled with joy and went to find Jesus. Just like those shepherds, knowing God is with us fills us with joy as well.
Being filled with joy is powerful. Look at what Isaiah 35:10 says: “Those who have been ransomed by the LORD will return. They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.”
When we sing to God, He gives us a joy that never goes away. Having His joy, sorrow and mourning run away from us! When we live in the joy God gives us, other people begin to become joyful as well.
Say it -
Joy to the world! The Lord has come. I have received my King! Let the whole earth make room for Him and receive Him. Fill them with joy, Jesus, because you are “great joy” for all people.
Share it -
Listen to the song and let God’s joy come upon you. As you go about your day, give away His joy by smiling and talking kindly toward people. As you do, sorrow and mourning will leave them.
