Experience Christmas: A Family DevotionalSample
“God with us!”
Hear it - Listen to "O Come Emmanuel" by Bethel Music Kids
Read it –
For 400 years no one had heard God speak to them. Many people felt alone and abandoned. Even in this, there were some who began to anticipate that God would come and be with them again, which is exactly what He did on Christmas. It just didn’t happen in a way they expected. He came as a little baby named Jesus, and was also called “Emmanuel.” The name Emmanuel means “God is with us.”
Just as some anticipated, He’d come to live among us, to speak to us, to rescue us. He’d come so we would never be alone. We would never have to feel alone again, even when we are by ourselves.
Hebrews 13:5 says that "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you." Also, in Psalm 46:1 we read, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”
Say it –
God is with me. God is with my family. We are not alone! God is for us! God has rescued us and speaks to us.
Share it –
Find someone today whom you can share the news with that they are not alone, that God is for them, and with them, and wants to help them.
More Reading: Isaiah 7:14 The Lord himself will give you the sign. The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel.
