You Are Enough
You are enough. Let me repeat myself again, You are enough. You are capable, you are smart, you are valuable, you are unique, and you were fearfully and wonderfully made by the Most High! When God was creating the world, He already had you in mind. He created mankind in His own image, to be like Him and to spread love, kindness, and good in the world. He created the world, knowing you would be a part of it because He knows that you have so much to offer the world. When we fail, struggle or face obstacles, it can make us feel like we are not enough. Surely, we must somehow be inadequate, or this wouldn't be happening. If only we could be stronger, do more, and get better, then things would be okay. We would be okay. We become the judge and find ourselves lacking. I believe our struggle with wondering if we are enough goes back primarily to how much we trust God. We aren’t struggling because of the specifics of our circumstances as much as we are struggling because we fail to trust God to give us what we need, to show us where we are supposed to go and what we are supposed to do. That’s why discontentment surfaces in our lives in all the ways it does.
Deep down we struggle to believe God is going to lead us to what is best for us. It’s our internal voice that whispers we will never be enough, so we work and worry and feel like we must do something big or something huge to prove our worth and to make sure our life matters. In Christ, we have everything we need. We are all we need to be. We are rescued from ourselves and from the question that haunts us, "What's wrong with me?" Instead, we can ask, "Who is within me?" The answer is an infinite God who knows no limits, who hung the stars in place. The One who hears our every prayer and directs our every step. He offers a fullness that can't be taken away by bad days, weak moments, or even life's greatest tragedies. Yes, we grieve. Yes, we face loss. Yes, we let people down and let people go. But in all of this, who we are is not diminished because the One within us can't be diminished. That never changes, no matter what. Isn’t it a relief to know that we can never be “good enough” apart from our Savior and that He loves us anyway? God loves you just as you are. You are enough- because you were made in the image of God and carry His likeness in You.
You are enough.
Prayer
Lord help me to see that I am enough because my value, and my identity, are found in You alone. Who I am is not what friends, family members, co-workers, supervisors, or teachers say I am. What matters is who You say I am. My joy is found in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
