Hello Beautiful

DAY 4 OF 7

Your Worth Is More Than Rubies

Sis, you’re valuable. I know you want to argue that proclamation and tell me if only I knew you better, I’d think differently. You want to tell me all the reasons you are not. If you could, you might share those dark secrets that no one knows about that proves you’re anything but valuable. Maybe you make choices because you believe your life has little value to anyone. So you drink more than you should, you smoke, you binge eat, and you’ve developed addictions you wish you could stop. Maybe you look at yourself in the mirror and are disgusted by your reflection. Your value isn’t dependent on your parents who hurt you when you were young. Your value isn’t tied to your net worth or the size of your house or the type of car you drive. Your value isn’t how your spouse makes you feel. It isn’t connected to your ability to have children. Your value isn’t related to the choices you made in college and now try to hide. Your value is so much more. How do I know you’re valuable? I know because Jesus died for you. I know that you are walking amid your own storm and you've been deceived into believing Jesus has forgotten all about you and abandoned you. I know that in this storm you believe it must be God punishing you because you deserve it. I know that in this storm you feel alone. I know that you believe the lies: that if you mattered, truly mattered, then things should be different. Shouldn’t things be better? Beautiful friend, if I could, I’d meet you at a nearby coffee shop and listen to you as you recount every wrong choice you made, every fact about your life that proves you’re not valuable... and then, I’d give you the biggest bear hug and remind you that Jesus came for you and He loves you.

God desperately wants you to see and know that you are valuable, and your worth is more than rubies. Your value is not dependent on your abilities, your characteristics, or your efforts to try harder to please others. You matter regardless of your position in life. Like the Samaritan woman at the well who must have thought Jesus was out of His mind when He started talking to her. He was a Jew, she wasn’t. During that time, Jewish people didn’t associate with Samaritans. But He did. And He took it one step further by revealing to her that He was the Son of God. That changed her life and her testimony, and it impacted the lives of other Samaritans around her (John 4:1-42). Just like a strand of rubies or a ruby ring, its value is determined by its manufacturer and the consumer. That is just like you and me. Our worth is determined by who made us and who paid a price for our salvation. God formed you in His image and if He formed you in His image then there is nothing you can do to be worthy but accept Him as your Savior, repent and follow Him. If you are feeling worthless because of your past or something someone did or said to you, I want you to remember that your worth is not established by people or things. Your worth is established through the Almighty King. When the Creator looks at you, He sees your heart, He sees the real you and He sees unlimited potential and purpose. No matter how dark it may feel and no matter what you may have done, He will always be there to reach out His hand to find you because YOU ARE VALUABLE and WORTHY! No matter what you have or haven’t done. You are more valuable than rubies and worth the price Jesus paid for you. No one has ever paid a greater price or made a greater sacrifice than Jesus Christ. So often we accept the declarations that others have made concerning our own lives, well-being, or fate. It is imperative that you recognize that in order to achieve what you want in life, you must not give your power away to others by accepting their declarations concerning your affairs. When you decide to speak the truth about yourself, that truth is rooted in the word of God. Goodness and mercy shall surely follow.

The following are some daily declarations rooted in biblical truths to speak over your life:

I declare:

  • I am blessed and highly favored. (Luke 1:28).
  • The joy of the LORD is my strength. (Nehemiah 8:10).
  • I will live and see the goodness of God. (Psalm 27:13).
  • God has not given me a spirit of fear. He gives me power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7).
  • I am sure of this, that God is not done with me yet and will bring the good work in me to completion. (Philippians 1:6).
  • I am bought and paid with the blood of Jesus. He will protect me. (I Corinthians 6:20).
  • God does exceedingly abundantly above all that I ask according to His power that works in me. (Ephesians 3:20).
  • God gives me the victory. I will make it. (I Corinthians 15:57).
  • God will restore and strengthen me. I will not remain the same. (I Peter 5:10).
  • I will walk in health and be accepted. (Jeremiah 30:17).

We don’t have to worry much about whether we have made the right declaration to speak over our lives. Why? Because it is not our word but the Word of God that we are declaring. For this very reason, it is vital to speak biblical truth in our daily declarations. Without His truth, our declarations would sound nice but would be empty and powerless. It wouldn’t help us. God promises to perform His Word, and He doesn’t lie. What He says He will do, He will do (Numbers 23:19).

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I am struggling. It's hard not to believe that I am worthless and have little value. I ask you to help me understand that my worth comes from You and You alone. Allow me to lay all that has caused me to feel unworthy at Your feet and never look back. Help me to understand that my worth is not based on how much money I make, what others say, or how much I've accomplished in life. Holy Spirit, I ask that You continue to gently remind me daily of my worth through Your presence and guidance. In Jesus' name, Amen.
