Small Miracles

DAY 9 OF 10

Whom do you run to first?

I'd come back from vacation full of motivation, a new goal in my mind and heart: "I want to start an association to be able to help more people!" I immediately called my accountant, but he interrupted me: "Déborah, I'm afraid we won't be able to work together anymore—I'm retiring." What? My mood instantly plummeted.

Finding a good tax accountant isn't that easy, and right as I was about to step into action, it felt like my efforts were being completely thwarted. And then I ended up getting more bad news later that day…

Have you ever had times like these? If so, I'd like to encourage you with something! It's not my own idea…I borrowed it from David in the Bible and took it to heart. :-) He writes:

"My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only He will release my feet from the snare." (Psalm 25:15, NIV)

This verse doesn't say, "Crying, I ran to my workmates, poured out my heart to them, and then we ate cake. I felt better for a little while until I was alone again and kept crying."

The first thing to do, always and no matter what you're facing, is to look to the Lord! Run to Him for help. Pour out your heart to Him! Your friends, even with all their love, can't make a miracle happen for you. But the Lord can! :-)

Let's choose to pray before we speak. God won't disappear after you have this conversation with Him, after you cry out to Him in prayer. He will remain. And He'll stand with you through your difficulty, giving you His peace in the process! (see Philippians 4:7)

Do you know what happened while I was praying? I realized that this news could actually be a blessing in disguise—if you want to go new ways, you have to walk new paths.

So, in the future, I'm choosing to work on entrusting my everyday worries and problems to God right away, looking to Him first for help. Will you join me?

You are a miracle!
