Reasonable Doubt

DAY 3 OF 20

The crucial decisions we make for ourselves daily are what to do with friends, what to watch on Netflix, and what to have for lunch. These are "easy" decisions. What about the hard decisions of where to go to college? What's the next step in my life? How do we make the right decision in these situations? When we aren’t sure how to do something or what to do, we can get stressed, panic, and doubt ourselves. When this happens, we can ask for guidance and people who know what they’re doing to help us in these moments. With the right guidance and people in our lives, we get a little more clarity and become more confident in our abilities.

Toward the end of the book of Matthew, just before Jesus goes up to Heaven, all of his disciples are on a mountain worshiping Jesus. In these final moments, some disciples doubted what Jesus was doing. Jesus knew the disciples might have been scared, nervous, and worried. So Jesus gives them some guidance and says, "I'll be with you always." So when we are in the middle of doubts and worries and aren’t sure what to do next, we can be reminded of what Jesus said to his disciples and know he'll always be with us.

Today, consider two people you can go to when you have questions about faith.

About this Plan

Reasonable Doubt

What’s the most unreasonable thing you’ve heard? Was it a story or a statement that was hard for you to believe? It can be difficult to ask questions or express doubt when other people seem so certain, especially when it comes to faith. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we’ll see it really is possible to have questions and doubts while still having faith.
