Reasonable DoubtSample
We all have been embarrassed! It's a part of being a human; we all will make ourselves look silly. The worst is when you think people have forgotten about your embarrassing moment and then bring it up again. Is it possible to be embarrassed about following Jesus? Maybe people don't understand why you go to church every week. Or, to go one step further, maybe people make fun of you for going to church. This is a tough spot to be in and could lead to embarrassment and even frustration.
Did you know one of the disciples faced a similar situation? On the night when Jesus was arrested, people asked Peter, Jesus' closest disciple, if he knew Jesus or not. You would think he would have said yes. Peter and Jesus were friends who spent three years together. But instead, he denied knowing Jesus out of frustration to avoid receiving criticism and feeling embarrassed. But as much as he tried, Peter could not escape the impact Jesus made. After making the mistake of being disloyal to someone who was God and a close friend, Peter recognized the significance of sticking with Jesus.
When do you feel tempted to forget about your relationship with Jesus?
