What's in a Name: Bondage Breaker

DAY 4 OF 4

What now? You know about the relief and goodness and peace that can come from finding freedom in Christ. That’s great! But afterwards, what happens?

It’s no lie: life in a broken world is hard work! There is definitely still going to be temptation and there are totally going to be moments where you’re going to mess up. It happens. But the great thing about God is that He has grace for us.

In John 1:16, we’re told that because of how much God loved us, with Jesus taking our punishment for sin, His grace for us is never going to run out.

Let’s talk about that in a different way. Maybe you’re thinking that there’s no way you’ll be able to be perfect, so what’s the use in following God? That’s the amazing thing about God! God will forgive you each and every time you mess up.

Life happens, we aren’t perfect. But we serve a God who will never run out of forgiveness, or second or third or infinite chances for us!

Galatians 5:1 literally tells us that we’re still going to be tempted to go back to our life of sin. But because of Jesus, we can stand firm and rely on Him when we’re feeling that urge to go back to gossip, or lying, or stealing, or whatever was a part of our past.

God is so awesome. He’s cheering us on. He’s right by our side. He’s our comfort, and strength and Bondage Breaker.

As we come to the end of this devotional series, ask God to help break the chains in your life. If you’ve already done that, stand firm in Him. His mercies are new every morning, His grace never runs out, and His love for you is greater than anything you’ve ever experienced before!

Day 3

About this Plan

What's in a Name: Bondage Breaker

What’s in a name? It’s what our parents call us, it’s our nickname from our friends, it’s the last name our coach shouts out during practice. Jesus is known by many names, as well. Some may be familiar, some may be foreign. In this series, we are going to discover why Jesus can be called Bondage Breaker.
