DAY 2 OF 4

So why do we need freedom? That’s a great place to start!

We need freedom because of sin. Sin entered the picture in the Garden of Eden when Eve was tempted by Satan. She directly betrayed God by eating from the tree God told her not to eat from and thus caused man to be cast out of Eden. Her once perfect life was disrupted and sent into a tailspin. Has this ever happened to you? Things are going great and then with one decision or change, suddenly nothing in your life looks the same?

This is where man’s brokenness began. Because of Eve’s actions, we were disqualified from a life of uninterrupted community with our Maker, our Father, our God. Sin, shame, heaviness and darkness were all around.

So, what happened next? Man needed a Savior and God sent us our Bondage Breaker. His name is Jesus!

Jesus took our place up on the cross. He literally took on the sins of the entire world so that every person who believes in Him would have eternal life, would have freedom, would have a chance to leave behind the sin and the shame and the junk to find peace and freedom in Him!

By accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our chains are broken, our sin is forgiven, we can walk in the light, knowing that our future is not defined by our past. We can choose to follow God’s way and do our very best to not sin. Will we get it 100%, right? No, we’ll definitely stumble sometimes. But God sees us trying, and because of Jesus, God will meet us where we are and offer us love, goodness, peace, and guidance.

Tomorrow we are going to discuss some things we may need freedom from. The chains in our lives we might not even realize we need to break!
