What's in a Name: HealerSample
Today’s story of healing is one of my favorites because it includes one of those two-for-one miracles of healing in multiple parts of someone’s life! Jesus’ reputation as a guy who heals has spread all over the place. People are coming from far and wide to hear Him speak, to find healing, and to figure out if this guy is really the Son of God.
Picture this: Jesus is trying to speak and there are SO many people that they don’t fit inside the house where He’s speaking. They’re spilled out all around the outside of the house. It’s a dense crowd of people wanting to hear Jesus speak.
A group of friends show up. They had decided to bring their paralyzed friend to see Jesus, to seek healing for his disability. But when they get there, the crowd is so big, there’s no chance of them getting to the front to see Jesus.
That’s when these guys spring into action. They’re determined to bring their paralyzed friend to Jesus.
So, what do they do? They climb up onto the roof and cut a hole through the top of it. Can you imagine being Jesus? He’s speaking and then all of a sudden these guys are cutting a hole through the roof!!
They lower down their friend to the feet of Jesus. Before He does anything, Jesus tells the paralyzed man that his sins are forgiven. Wait, what?!
He comes for physical healing, but first he has complete spiritual healing! Any less than stellar thing this guy has done in his whole life is forgiven! Incredible!
THEN, Jesus heals him! He tells him to pick up his mat and walk. And, by golly, that’s exactly what happens.
Why does this matter? Because Jesus cares about our hearts and our minds and our spiritual life. The things of this world are not permanent, but through a relationship with Him, and through accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our spiritual life leads to us having a permanent place in Heaven forever!

About this Plan
What’s in a name? It’s what our parents call us, it’s our nickname from our friends, it’s the last name our coach shouts out during practice. Jesus is known by many names as well. Some may be familiar, some may be foreign. In this series we are going to discover why Jesus can be called Healer.
