What's in a Name: HealerSample
When you hear of a miracle, what are you thinking?
Oh, it’s a miracle we had a snow day today. Or, mom said we get to have pizza tonight, it’s a miracle! Or maybe it’s my sister finally found relief after two years of struggling with chronic pain, what a miracle!
Jesus was a miracle worker.
Did you know that out of all of the miracles Jesus performed during His time on earth, the longest list is of people He healed? Flipping through the Gospels of the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), which all detail the life and ministry of Jesus, story after story of Jesus healing people appear.
Back when Jesus was on earth, He was spreading the good news about the Kingdom of God and He also had a reputation for healing people. People from near and far were hearing about this man who was healing people from all sorts of unpleasant things: seizures, disease, leprosy, crippling disabilities. It’s detailed in Matthew chapter 4. The healing that Jesus offered was unlike anything anyone had seen before. Everyone who was suffering wanted to see Jesus and be healed.
Sometimes Jesus healed through a few words or through a touch, or through spit and mud. But whatever way He healed, people were changed—not just physically, but spiritually—hrough their encounter with God.
All of us need healing in one way or another. Being a person on planet Earth is messy business. Maybe it isn’t physical healing we need. Maybe it is healing from a break up, or a rocky relationship at home, or healing from life just not going the way we expect. We all benefit from the healing that is offered to us through spending time with Jesus.
Throughout this plan we will discover some of the healings of Jesus and see how an encounter with Him can leave us with lasting physical healing and also spiritual healing!

About this Plan
What’s in a name? It’s what our parents call us, it’s our nickname from our friends, it’s the last name our coach shouts out during practice. Jesus is known by many names as well. Some may be familiar, some may be foreign. In this series we are going to discover why Jesus can be called Healer.
