Beatitudes - Sermon on the MountSample
The next blessing Jesus shared in His Sermon on the Mount was; Matthew 5:8 (CEV), “God blesses those people whose hearts are pure. They will see him!” What does it mean to have a pure heart? When something is pure, it’s not mixed with any other substances.
The truth is, our hearts can end up filled with all sorts of things. Our hearts could be filled with bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, lies, and hate.
With God, our hearts don’t have to stay that way. The water we drink goes through a process to become pure; this is called filtration. For water to become pure, it passes through layers of sand, rocks, and charcoal that take out the impurities. How do we have a pure heart? Our hearts can be made pure through the filtration of God, His Word, and the Holy Spirit. When we live obedient to God’s Word, we allow Him to filter out anything that gets into our hearts so that it can be made pure.
