Beatitudes - Sermon on the MountSample

Even when you did the right thing, being treated badly is not easy. Being insulted, mistreated, and having people tell lies about you all because you follow Jesus is not easy at all! We might have challenges like this with people in our lives. Maybe you’ve been made fun of at school because you go to church. You might have had friends be mean to you because you’ve missed out on parties or events because you chose to be at church instead. It may surprise you to know that not everyone liked Jesus! He was made fun of, lied about, insulted, and mistreated. So if this happens to you for believing in Him, He knows just how you feel.
The apostle Paul wrote in Philippians about living in a way that brings honour to God. He faced more than his share of opposition, enemies, and people who were out to destroy him. Through it all, Paul looked to Jesus. Jesus doesn’t teach in the beatitudes that life in God’s Kingdom will be easy, but He does promise that it will be blessed!
About this Plan

Jesus begins the Sermon on the Mount by sharing a series of blessings for those in God’s Kingdom. Explore the beatitudes - You’re blessed when you rely on God, when you care for others, and when you put God first.
