DAY 6 OF 21

ABANDON YOUR PAIN BAGGAGE

PSALM 147:3

Give Him your pain

It is possible to still feel pain, guilt, and shame after forgiving those who have harmed you. No pain is too much or too deep for God to heal. God wants you to live without the pain of the past. Luke 4:18 & Isaiah 53:4-5

Write down what you feel:

  • hurt
  • rejected
  • neglected
  • like nobody loves me
  • bad about myself
  • like I struggle to make the right choices
  • empty
  • like my life is a mess
  • like I can’t get along with my family
  • angry
  • guilty
  • ashamed
  • torn because of divorce
  • abused
  • depressed
  • anxious
  • suicidal

Write down anything else in your life that hurts you.

Let’s pray:

Heavenly Father, I bring all my sorrow, shame, and burdens to You: {read your list out loud}. Please heal me and make my heart whole. Thank You. In Jesus’s name, amen.

CLEAN HEART AND CONSCIENCE

Make sure you:

have no hard feelings against God,

Make sure you don’t blame God for anything bad that happened in your life (DAY 3). Ask Him to take any resentment in your heart, against Him, away.

confessed your sin,

It is only natural to have negative feelings, thoughts, and attitudes toward people when they hurt you. If you have sinned in any of these ways, ask God to forgive you and He will. 1 John 1:9

make things right,

Maybe you abused, lied to, stole from, insulted, or harmed someone who hurt you. Say you’re sorry and restore damages best you can. James 5:16

Make a list of people whom you owe an apology to. Ask God to help you and deal (visit, contact) every one. Romans 13:8

Now you can move on in freedom—no outstanding apologies from your side.

forgiven yourself.

Maybe you’ve made a bad decision or allowed something to happen that you now regret? God wants you to forgive yourself and take away any guilt or shame. He wants you to come to Him with confidence. 1 John 3:20-21

Take time, forgive yourself according to God’s will and ask Him to remove any burden of guilt or shame you have forever.

Move on.

Philippians 3:13-14

How will you make sure you do not hold onto pain in future?

Thank You for taking away my pain and setting me free from the past—in Jesus’s name, amen.

JOHN 8:36
