We live in a world that always wants us to be doing something. Hard work is Godly, but is our driving motivation to work coming from a place of knowing that I’m accepted by God? Or is the motivation to work coming from trying to become accepted by God?

My life changed dramatically when I realized that God loves me just the way I am, and it is in receiving His love that His healing flowed into my life. I’m not working for His love; I’m working from His love. There is a very big difference.

This world is a busy place, and it’s easy to fall into the busyness. Oftentimes, though, sitting still with God accomplishes more in our lives than all the busyness can. Because it’s in silence with God that He imparts to us the courage to face our challenges. It’s when we sit in His peaceful presence that we begin to see the path ahead more clearly.

As we sit and get to know God, fear drifts away like leaves in the wind.

Therefore, we often get more done in less time when we make spending time with God a priority. Resting with Him empowers us to be able to handle life’s challenges with more courage, clarity, and faith.

Prayer Tip

Sit with Him today. Challenge yourself to spend time with God, and have no agenda in doing so; just spend time with your Father in Heaven, and thank Him for what He has already done for you. After you do so, observe how your perspective, energy, and hope shift.

Action Step

Next time you have a free afternoon I challenge you to say and do this, “God I’m going to relax today and do something I like because you love me and like seeing me enjoy life.” Then as you enjoy some downtime, trust that your challenges are in God’s hands and go enjoy an afternoon “being” with God.
