Sharing the Gospel

DAY 1 OF 5

To share the good news of the Gospel, we first need to understand what good news is and what it means to share it.

Sharing the Gospel is called evangelism. Evangelism is telling people the Good News about Jesus. So sharing the good news shouldn’t be something to fear. It should be the opposite. Because we experience the radical transformation of the love of Christ within our life, it should naturally be something that we want to do. And we should have joy when we share Jesus with others. However, if we are honest with ourselves, we often have fear, anxiety, or dread when talking about Jesus. Why is that?

When it comes to sharing the message of Christ, we’re often fearful of rejection by others. The Gospel is not like the fairytales that we see on television. The reality is that Jesus was crucified for this message; He died for this. So we feel fearful of sharing this same message. Throughout God’s Word, Jesus warns us that we would experience rejection and persecution from this world. But, He also tells us, “...take heart! I have overcome the world” - John 16:33b. When sharing His message of redemption, we can trust Him.

So is the Good News really good? Yes. Does it sometimes bring rejection and persecution? Yes. How is that? The good news is about eternal life with the Father. That this life on earth is temporary and nothing on earth will ever truly satisfy us. Scripture also teaches us that those who face persecution are blessed (Matthew 5:10-12).

We shouldn’t be so afraid to evangelize. We cannot continue to keep this good news to ourselves but share it with others. As believers, we have the Holy Spirit with us, guiding us and helping us. Matthew 28:20 says, “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” For He is always with us.

Do you believe the good news about Jesus Christ?
