Keys to Kingdom Life

DAY 4 OF 4

Lead Us Not Into Temptation

“And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” It is awesome to realize that we can ask the Lord to strengthen us by the Ruach HaKodesh, by the Spirit of God, so that we won’t be led into temptation. In other words, we can ask God to protect us from being exposed to an evil that would overwhelm us. We can ask God to protect us from having to deal with an evil that we may not be able to successfully resist for whatever reason—perhaps because we’re not mature enough, or we haven’t had enough biblical training, or we don’t have enough revelation, or we don’t have enough faith.

There are some things that you can stand against, but there may be other forces of darkness that you’re not quite ready to deal with. You can actually ask the Lord to keep you from being exposed to those situations that will overwhelm you. You can pray, “Father God, protect me from being exposed to evils and temptations that I wouldn’t be able to successfully handle. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil.”

After saying, “Do not lead us into temptation,” Messiah taught us to pray, “but deliver us from evil.” We need awareness that evil is all around us. In Revelation 2:13, Yeshua said, “I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is.” John said, “The whole world lies in the power of the evil one” (1 John 5:19). Evil is real, and it’s all around us. We should pray to be delivered and washed from it.

Yeshua continues, “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, both now and forever.” Jesus is saying, “Father God, Your saints belong to You. Don’t let them be overtaken by the enemy. Don’t let them bring a reproach upon You because Yours is the kingdom, and Yours is the power, and Yours is the glory. They don’t belong to Satan but to You.” The Lord wants to be glorified in our lives. He strengthens you and me to overcome temptation and evil so that His name will be exalted in and through us. In the end, Satan will not have anything to boast about or lord over us because, again, the kingdom, the power, and the glory belong to Father God, both now and forever.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

—Matthew 6:13

About this Plan

Keys to Kingdom Life

Something we all miss is how to align ourselves with God’s will. Because of our human nature, we all want things to be done our way, in our time. But what if there’s something more; what if Heaven is more amazing and expansive than we ever hoped for? In this 4-day devotional, Rabbi Kirt Schneider explores how the Lord’s Prayer can carry you back to the heart of the Father.
