Keys to Kingdom Life

DAY 1 OF 4

Our Father Who Art In Heaven

Have you seen the power of the Lord’s Prayer at work in our world today? Do you wish to see greater change in your connection to Christ? Rabbi Kirt Schneider dives deep into the Lord’s Prayer to unveil the supernatural power and holiness of our Heavenly Father.

"Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.'"

—Matthew 6:9–10

The Lord’s Prayer is also referred to as “the Disciples’ Prayer” because it is the prayer Yeshua taught His disciples. This is one of the most familiar passages in the entire Word of God. Even those who don’t embrace the Christian faith are familiar with this prayer.

What is so special about the Lord’s Prayer is that it is the one Messiah Jesus Himself taught us to pray. Yeshua gave us this prayer model from the portion of Scripture that is often referred to as the Sermon on the Mount. He said:

"Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]'"

—Matthew 6:9-13

Yeshua tells us to begin our prayers by saying, “Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Just think about that for a moment. Here is the Word made flesh, the Son of God, Yeshua HaMashiach, telling us that we should begin our prayers by exalting the Father—that we should acknowledge that God’s name is holy and set apart, that He is high and lifted up, that it is not about us first but about Him. Then we are told to align our will with His will.

If we want to pray in a way that touches the center of God’s heart, if we want to pray according to His will, our hearts must cry out, “My Father, who is in heaven, holy is Your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth, beginning in my life, even as it is in heaven.”

Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations shall come and worship before You, for Your judgments have been revealed.

—Revelation 15:4

About this Plan

Keys to Kingdom Life

Something we all miss is how to align ourselves with God’s will. Because of our human nature, we all want things to be done our way, in our time. But what if there’s something more; what if Heaven is more amazing and expansive than we ever hoped for? In this 4-day devotional, Rabbi Kirt Schneider explores how the Lord’s Prayer can carry you back to the heart of the Father.
