Keys to Kingdom Life

DAY 2 OF 4

Debt-Free Bread

Every day we need God to sustain us afresh by His grace. Every day we need His protection anew. Every day we need Him to fill us with a fresh impartation of His presence and power. Every day we need His angels all around us, protecting us. Every day we need God. Just as we’re dependent on the air we breathe to be sustained physically, we need the Spirit of God, the Ruach HaKodesh, every minute of every day in order to truly be sustained. If God were to take His hand off of you and me for even a second, we would be snuffed out, just like that.

Messiah Jesus is telling us we need to go before the Lord daily and say, “Father God, minister to me today. Inspire me today. Give me fresh bread today.” When we have that posture, beloved, life becomes an adventure. Every day brings something new. Every day is a day of growth and transformation. Every day is a day of discovering Jesus in a deeper way. Beloved, let’s do what Jesus told us to do. Let’s begin our day by putting ourselves in a posture of loving Him. Set time aside each morning to be still before Him. Start each day in the quiet, reading His Word and seeking His face.

Jesus continues by saying in Matthew 6:12, “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” You may have heard the verse put this way, “And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.” Whatever wording we’re familiar with, the idea involves being transparent before God and allowing the Holy Spirit to show us the things in our lives of which we need to be forgiven and cleansed.

Whether you and I realize it or not, our biggest need is to be forgiven of our sin. Paul wrote, “In Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7). There are things in all of our lives that we need to be forgiven of. Perhaps it’s pride, selfish ambition, or not treating others in the way they should be treated. The more we grow in grace and get closer to God, the more the Holy Spirit shows us things in our lives that we need cleansing from.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

—Psalm 51:1-2

About this Plan

Keys to Kingdom Life

Something we all miss is how to align ourselves with God’s will. Because of our human nature, we all want things to be done our way, in our time. But what if there’s something more; what if Heaven is more amazing and expansive than we ever hoped for? In this 4-day devotional, Rabbi Kirt Schneider explores how the Lord’s Prayer can carry you back to the heart of the Father.
