The Creator in YouSample
What God created “in the beginning” is amazing! In just six days, he created the heavens, the earth, nighttime, daytime, the sky, the land, the oceans, plants, animals, the sun, the moon, the stars, and human beings.
Yeah, that’s a lot! But here’s the thing: There’s even more that God did not create.
He created stars but he didn’t make a telescope. He created animals but he didn’t open a zoo. He created the ocean but he didn’t build a boat. Of course, God could have created those things. But instead, he asked us to do that work with him.
That’s what we see in Genesis 1 verses 26 and 28: “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule’…God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.’”
God never wanted the world to stay empty. From the beginning, he wanted us to “fill” it with good things! As I say in my book, The Creator in You, “while in six days God created a lot, there are so many things that He simply did not—like bridges and baseballs, sandcastles and s’mores. God asked us to create and fill the planet with more.”
God created you to create things that make his world a better and more beautiful place. So go and “fill the earth” with something incredible today!

About this Plan
Before God told us that he is loving and holy, he told us that he is creative! What does that mean for your kids’ schoolwork, chores, and future careers? It means that they can view those things with God-ordained purpose, enthusiasm, and joy! That’s my goal for your elementary school aged children as you lead them through this five-day devotional.
