Have you ever become upset because someone cut in front of you in a line? Have you ever been annoyed because someone got away with cheating and got a better grade than you? Have you ever been really hurt by someone? Have you ever lost a loved one? Have you ever questioned God? How long will the wicked get away with this? Psalm 94 doesn’t give us the answers, but it is a great response! Move towards the Father with your pain and questions. Turn your face toward God, not your back. God doesn’t always answer our questions, but He does reach down from heaven with comfort, help, and support. As the Psalm says, “God is our fortress, He is our Rock and refuge.”

GO DEEP: Vs 1-3: As the writer moves to God with his pain and confusion, what is the prayer?
Vs 11-13: As the psalmist moves into the presence of God, crying out about the unchecked evil around them, an awareness grows about his or her own shortcomings. How does the prayer change in these three verses?
Vs 17-19: The Psalm continues to move and turns to praise about God. What truth is declared in these three verses? Choosing to turn our face to God and not our backs during pain and confusion will shift the atmosphere! Choosing to declare a Psalm might not answer our questions, but it will lift us out of the mud and put our feet on a Rock! And things look different when you’re standing on a rock, above the mud.
