Remember the parable about the man who built his house on the rock? The rains came down, the waters rose, and the wind blew, but his house did not fall because it had strong foundations. Imagine your life as a house. How are you building the foundations for your future? Your teenage years will greatly affect and impact your adult life, and it’s a good thing to consider what the foundation of your life is. Is it rock, or is it something that won’t stand under pressure?

Life can throw all sorts of things at us: rain, waves, and wind; but these things don’t have to take us out. It’s possible to live strong, feet firm on the rock, roots deep in God and in His Word. Having been delivered from his enemies and from Saul, David sang to the Lord this song. He declared the Lord as his rock, his fortress and deliverer. Despite being pursued, threatened with death and destruction, David wasn’t disappointed. He had built his life on the rock. As the song goes, build your life upon His love today, for it’s a firm foundation. You will not be shaken.
