Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the Psalms

DAY 146 OF 161

Above All Gods

Did you know that there are billions of people all over the world who still worship idols? Billions. Billions of people still worship things that are the work of human hands. Billions of people put their trust in statues that have mouths but do not speak, eyes but do not see, and ears but do not hear. Scripture says that people who make the idols and the people who worship them are just like the idols: spiritually blind, deaf, and powerless.

As followers of Jesus, we are called to be a light in a spiritually dark world. You might be surprised to know this type of worship still exists, or you might live in a country where idol worship is common. Read verse 5 again. We know that the Lord is great and above all gods. We know His Truth can give hope and peace to a spiritually blind, deaf, and powerless world! No matter where you live, YOU are called to do something to help these people know Jesus. We challenge you to do one of these three things today:

Pray: Find out about a nation, people group, or person who worships idols. Spend the next few minutes praying for them.
Give: Send money to a missionary who serves in a country where idol worship is the main religion; give to your local church and let someone know you want the money to go toward missions; or send money to a Christian organisation like OM (Operation Mobilisation) committed to serving people in unreached countries.

Go: If you know someone who worships idols, share Jesus with him or her! If you live in a place where idol worship is non-existent, find out how you can go and serve.

GO DEEP: Which of the three challenges will you accept? Will you pray, give, or go?

BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
