The Justice Journey Sample

The Justice Journey

DAY 1 OF 6

1. Prayerful Step

We all want to make a change in our city, nation, and world. The current race crisis has brought awareness to generations of injustice. The racial challenges and recent videos have given many of us visuals to voices that have been crying out for generations.

Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Only in the darkness can we see the stars."

Crisis can be a catalyst for change if we allow the crisis to change us. We need to change. As leaders, as organizations, and as a nation. Enough is enough when it comes to racial injustice. The way leaders approach their journey to justice is of critical importance.

Justice is a journey; it's not a destination. From the beginning of humankind, we have seen the results of sin in our world. Sin is 'Selfish in Nature .'Sin causes us to think about ourselves before we think about others. John the Baptist understood this reality even though he was a prophet called by God. He said, "I must decrease, and he must increase." He understood his selfish motives and tendency to focus on his desires. His statement was not only a declaration but an invitation to allow God to change him.

The journey toward justice has no end in light of our time on earth, but there is a role we can play to begin the process of healing and restoration. As shown through the prophet Micah, we have been called to seek justice and do good. We are called to love those different from us and serve those in need.

We are all on a different journey, and God has a unique plan for each of us to play on the justice journey. We can't do everything, but we are all called to do something. Together, we can make a difference and take significant steps towards a world where justice can prevail.

Before we take steps towards bringing justice in the world, we must invite God to get a heart of justice in our world. We must decrease so Jesus, and his justice can increase in our lives. So today, we take our first step by inviting Jesus to change us from the inside out so he can use us to change the world.

Prayer: Jesus, today I invite you to change me so you can use me to bring justice to our world. Justice happens when I embody more of Jesus in my life. Amen.
