Red Letter Challenge Kids: The 11-Day Discipleship Experience for Kids

DAY 10 OF 11

Day 10: Jesus Going

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”  Mark 16:15

What if Jesus came to earth today? What if He was born in the same hospital you were in? What if He grew up down the street, rode your bus to school, and played on your sports team? Would you be friends? Would you be able to tell that He was God?

I’m glad Jesus came to earth when He died over 2000 years ago, but it would have been amazing to see the miracles and see the people follow Him. When Jesus came, He brought some surprising news with Him.

That news was this: that someone made all this. Someone is in charge, and it’s not us. The bad things that happen can be fixed, and all good things come from someone good. You have a purpose and are unique to someone.

Jesus was the Gospel, which means Good News. He was the thing that freed you from a confusing, hard, and painful world.

Things don’t always go as they should. They don’t always turn out as we had planned. The world feels topsy-turvy sometimes and not in a good rollercoaster-fun way.

God showed up and got things right-side-up again.  He lowered Himself and came to us to save us and take care of all of our sin.

It cost Jesus a lot to come to you. It cost him His glory as God in heaven, and then eventually, it cost Him His life. When Jesus rose, death was defeated. The story isn’t done when you die because it didn’t end when He died.

He still comes to you today. Picture this: Jesus laying on your floor, and you both stare up at the ceiling, just daydreaming…or throwing a ball with you, no plan, no competition, and no pressure. What about coloring a picture or riding bikes together?

When you go about your daily life, when things are hard, or picking teams feels unfair, know that Jesus always goes with you. You are never alone, ever.

If Jesus came today, He would look for you because He wants to be your best friend.

Challenge

Look up where you live on a map or Google Earth. Now look up Bethlehem. This is where Jesus first came to Earth. Find Jerusalem on the map. This is where He died. Everywhere Jesus went, He walked. He did not travel much, but His short time changed the whole world! If Jesus could change the world in this small area, how can you change the world through where you live and the places you’ll go?
