Handling Corporate CareersSample
If you ask the richest man in the world today, Bill Gates, on his dreams and aspirations for his children, I am 100% sure that he would NOT say, “I dream, a ‘lofty’ dream, that my children become scavengers someday”! Scavengers? While there is nothing wrong with a scavenger’s job per se, but that aspiration coming from the world’s richest man for his children, just doesn’t seem to fit the “Bill” (pun unintended)! In fact, Bill Gates’ dream for his children would be that they reach the very pinnacle of their professions of choice, and I am sure he will put the might of ALL his available resources at their disposal to help make their dreams come true!
Similarly, our Heavenly Father has a lofty dream for our lives - that we Christians be the “head and not the tail, the first and not the last” (Deut 28:13) in whatever we do. Our “Daddy God,” translated in Hebrew as “Abba Father,” has plans to prosper us and NOT to harm us (Jer 29:11). You see, His aspirations for our career is that we get promoted and always keep moving “onward, forward and upward” in the corporate ladder. His plans are NOT to harm us. And to make our God-given dreams come true, our Daddy God, the Creator of the universe, will put the supernatural might of ALL the resources of the entire universe to back us up!
But oftentimes we feel we are being pulled backwards in our careers. We didn’t get the promotion we deserved or we are facing a tough challenge with a client or colleague at work. Or maybe the economy is in a downtrend, our dream jobs evade us and we feel we just can’t survive another moment at work today! Take confidence in the fact that God works “all things for our good” (Rom 8:28).
You see, for an arrow to go darting forward, it has to be pulled back. Yes, there is some intense tension applied on the arrow, but ultimately the arrow zooms forward and goes much much further than what is humanly possible. Similarly, know that in your struggles in your corporate career, God has allowed that pressure on your corporate life, only in an effort to take you many many miles ahead, much faster and further, than you can “ask, think or imagine” (Eph 3:20)!
As you go to work today, know that God is for you and He wants His children to be at the very top of the corporate ladder – the head and not the tail! Go conquer the “corporate world” for Christ!
