5 Money Lessons for Kids

DAY 5 OF 5

God is the provider of everything.

A lot of adults don't understand this. And yet there is so much power in understanding this simple concept. Psalms 24:1 tells us: “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;”

The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30) is the perfect example of this when you see the master handing over talents (money) to these servants. If you notice in the parable regarding those talents, it never switches ownership. It never says "the servant's talents." It always says "the master's talents." Even when it's in their hands, it's still the master's talents.

As I would teach this to my young kids, they would ask us questions like, “Did God make the cars?” to which we’d reply, “No, but He created the materials and gave man the ability to create them. Then, He provided money for us to buy them!”

As they get older, we’ll teach them how the money we have is not always to be used for us, but as God asks us to use it.

The Word tells us He gives us everything so that we can enjoy it, but also so that we can advance His kingdom and that's ultimately what He's going to celebrate. So it's all His, and we have an incredible honor to be able to take it and use it to impact our community, impact our city, and impact the world for His sake.
