Creativity + Jesus: A 5-Day Reading Plan for Kids by Dave ConnisSample

“God and Eva are a lot alike, because God made Eva to be just like Him.” — The Inventions of God (And Eva) by Dave Connis
Humans are super special for a lot of reasons. We have thumbs. We make pizza. We can build massive skyscrapers. But the most special reason of all is that God made us in His “image.” Like a mirror reflects what you are like, we reflect what God is like. We are God Mirrors, reflecting His awesomeness across the lands. In other words, God made us like Him.
God specifically chose humans to do this. He didn’t make platypuses in His image. He didn’t make angels in His image. He didn’t make the macaroni penguins in His image. He made man and woman in His image. Humans.
So, put on your thinking shorts, mustaches, and mittens, and take the rest of the day to think about this:
Does being made in God’s image matter?
Other questions:
1. If everyone is a God Mirror, do you see God when you look at other people?
2. How does being made like God make you feel? Brave? Happy? Scared? Why?

About this Plan

Whether it's a new plan for a tree house, a refreshed take on a rocket ship, or a robotic dog that eats unwanted broccoli, kids are always inventing, coming up with new ideas, and stretching their imaginations. And as Dave Connis illustrates in his book, The Inventions of God (and Eva), when kids create, they are expressing a reflection of God's character and joining Him in His act of creation!
