eKidz Devotional: All About Faith

DAY 5 OF 5

Fearless Faith

We can be fearful or nervous of many things — the thought of monsters under our bed, singing in front of a crowd, or being the last batter up with bases loaded and two outs.

Did you know God says, “fear not” 365 times in the Bible? That’s one time for every day of the year!

We can learn a lot about fearless faith from a man named Ananias. He was a follower of Jesus who lived in the city of Damascus. He had a vision where God told him to go to the house of Judas and find a man named Saul.

Ananias was afraid to do what God wanted him to do. Saul was not nice — he hurt people who followed Jesus.

But what Ananias didn’t know was that three days earlier, while Saul was on his way to Damascus, he had been blinded by a bright light and Jesus spoke to him. In that very moment, God changed Saul’s heart and his life forever.

God gave Saul a new name (Paul), and he no longer wanted to hurt Christians.

Ananias didn’t let his fear keep him from doing what God asked him to do. He went to see Saul, placed his hands on his eyes, and God restored Saul’s sight.

Ananias’ fearless faith helped him overcome his fear, and because of that, Saul was healed.

Ask yourself: Can you think of a time when you were afraid of something, even though you knew it was the right thing to do? How can you overcome fear when it shows up?

Challenge yourself: When you’re feeling afraid, pause and pray. Ask God to help you overcome your fear with courage and strength.

Pray: God, thank You for loving me and giving me courage to overcome my fears. Help me to be strong in tough situations and to seek help from others when I need it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

About this Plan

eKidz Devotional: All About Faith

Faith is more than knowing God exists and memorizing scripture. It’s a strong belief or trust that’s sturdy and firm, and it doesn’t wear out or break down. In this five-day devotional, we will learn faith grows as we grow, and it’s long-lasting. We’ll explore Bible stories and listen to the eKidz family podcast, “Adventures Of The StarKeepers,” to help us apply these lessons to our lives.
