Through the Bible: Song of SongsSample
Jesus My Love
What is your beloved more than another beloved, O most beautiful among women? What is your beloved more than another beloved, that you thus adjure us? My beloved is radiant and ruddy, distinguished among ten thousand.
His mouth is most sweet, and he is altogether desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.
Song of Songs 5:9-10, 16 (ESV)
In the Song of Solomon when the woman was asked about her lover, she gave a long list of how wonderful her lover was and concluded that he was altogether desirable.
We all say that we love Jesus but what would be our answer when someone asks us a similar question?
Our Jesus is patient with us when we are slow to discover His goodness and kindness. He always has our best interest at heart and He will defend us and pick us up when we have failed. He does not give up on us and lives to intercede for us. He gives us honor and delights in the victory that He fought for us but counted as ours. He provides all that we need and gives us a wonderful family. Jesus is altogether lovely, altogether worthy and altogether wonderful to us.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, we thank You for Your love that is so amazing and divine that it will take all of eternity for us to understand. We pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal more of Jesus to us and help us to love Him not just by our lips but with our hearts. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
About this Plan
The Song of Solomon is regarded as the greatest of all poetic songs that portray the affection between a man and a woman, from courtship to marriage. The author depicts the physical pleasure God blesses a couple for their enjoyment as they come to union in marriage. This union is foreshadowing but nowhere near in comparison to, the perfect union between Christ and His people in His second coming.
