DAY 7 OF 7

Day 7: A PROMISE FULFILLED

For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. –2 Corinthians 6:2

I’ve been in a season of waiting. For six years my wife and I have been trying to have kids. We’ve visited specialists and tried many different potential solutions but have been left without answers.

Early on this journey, I allowed the pain of unmet expectations to break my heart. That broken heart led to anger and eventually bitterness, damaging relationships and allowing the enemy to oppress several areas of my life. But instead of leaving me there, God took me through a journey of healing.

In 2 Corinthians 6:2, Paul quotes God’s words to Isaiah. God used Isaiah to reveal a promise of salvation more than 700 years before Jesus was born. Can you imagine waiting 700 years? When Jesus began his ministry, He read the words of Isaiah 61:1–2, declaring that he had come to fulfill God’s promise to bring Good News, heal broken hearts, and break oppression. Jesus finished by saying, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4:18-21)

Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promise.

When Paul wrote, “the right time is now,” he wasn’t just talking about receiving salvation. He was reminding the Church of the freedom Jesus brought. Now I want to remind you that today is “the right time” to receive the fullness of God’s promise. Everything Jesus offered 2,000 years ago is available to you right now. He still heals brokenness and overcomes oppression.

A few years into our waiting, my wife and I received a powerful and specific prophetic word that we would be parents. God has confirmed this word to us on several occasions through several different people. While at times it’s difficult to wait for this particular promise to come to fruition, we no longer walk around with broken hearts and under the weight of oppression. Instead, we wait patiently, pray daily, abide in the Word, and live with expectation and joy of the next chapter to unfold. I’m so thankful for Jesus’ fulfillment of God’s promise and the freedom my wife and I walk in today because of the healing Jesus provided.

As you’ve listened through the songs over the last few days, you may have noticed several melodic motifs that don’t fully resolve. In today’s track, “A Promise Fulfilled,” you’ll hear those melodies return and find fulfillment.

What is the Holy Spirit saying to you?
As you listen to this song, call to mind the promises He’s revealed to you and the promises He’s fulfilled. As you thank Him for those fulfilled, lay the unresolved at His feet. Let His Spirit speak to you and renew your strength.
