I Have Questions

DAY 3 OF 20

Have you ever 'happy cried'? The kind of tears that come out of nowhere because you're so filled with joy? Or maybe gratitude? Those moments don't come too often, unfortunately. Sometimes tears flow because of hopelessness, or loneliness, or a looming sense of inadequacy. But sometimes we try to hide these moments — especially those of us who say we follow Jesus. After all, if God is real, then we should be joyful and full of faith all the time, right? But this just isn't the case. Life can sometimes get dark, lonely, and be full of tears. However, it's often those dark, lonely, tear-filled moments that provide us with the best opportunities to cry out to God, honestly and fearlessly.

What do you think — is God any less present in our moments of sorrow than in our moments of joy? When do you feel closest to God? And furthest? The Bible says that God is omnipresent, meaning everywhere, all at the same time. Because God is always with us, we can find comfort knowing God experiences both our sorrow and our joy with us.

How do you know God is with you?

About this Plan

I Have Questions

In times of loss, grief, pain, or doubt, it’s normal to have questions. If you’ve ever tried to make sense of your circumstances, wished life didn’t have to hurt so much, or wondered why God won’t fix what you’re going through, you’re not alone. In this 4-week devotional series from the Grow Curriculum, we'll look at four big questions we're sometimes afraid to ask, and what God says about them.
