Gift of GodSample
Day 4: Read My Mind
Just like God made us all unique on the outside, He made us all unique on the inside. He gave us a brain to give us personality and to show each of us our hidden talents and gifts. He wants us to know Him and to become knowledgeable of His word. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 12:27 that “now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” Not only does every single internal part of us help our body work as one, but we are a part of the body of Christ. We must keep our faith healthy for us to help others. Just like we must keep our body healthy to live our lives most effectively.
God wants us to take care of our spirit and recognize His gift of our personality. He gave each of us a unique personality so that every one of us will positively impact one another.
You might be asking yourself right now, "what special gift did God give me?" You might think you are kind, loving, or loyal, but those are character traits, which are learned behaviors. God wants you to go deeper into self-discovery to learn your personality traits which are specific to you. He created some people to be extroverts, who are really good communicators. Others are introverted but have the gift of compassion. Even experience works as a part of God's plan. For example, if a close relative hadn’t passed away, you wouldn’t have been able to connect with a certain person and change their life forever. Or, if you hadn’t gone through that rough patch, you wouldn’t have been able to bring that friend to church. God has so much in store for you, but that means unlocking all of your potential.
You aren’t born with everything unlocked because it takes faith to find yourself. God didn’t make life easy for a reason. He wants you to discover for yourself the unique person He made you to be. He knows the results are way more impactful when you are forced to rely on Him and learn along your spiritual journey.
If it seems like a lot, it’s because it is. God put so much work into us that at times it can be overwhelming. We keep telling ourselves we aren’t worthy, that we don’t understand. But God gave us the gift of ourselves because He makes us worthy, and He will help us understand that our significance lies in Him.
Acceptance is hard. But when we learn to accept and love ourselves, God will come through. He will multiply our blessings because He promised He would. God is the only one who can teach us to love ourselves. So, let’s start with loving Him.
Discuss:
1) What gift of personality has God given you? How are you going to use it to help shape others?
2) What does it mean to love God?
