Different: A Great Thing to Be

DAY 3 OF 5

Different Is Grand!

While Macy believes that Different is grand,

Others at times just don’t understand.

Some people stare rudely, and Macy’s been told

“You don’t belong here. You don’t fit the mold.”

Devotion

God loves it when we’re kind to others. It’s one way we show others what He is like because God is kind! One of the best ways to be kind is to celebrate each other’s differences. You don’t need to feel scared when you see someone who looks or talks or acts differently than you. You probably have a lot more in common than you think. If you show kindness to that person, you might also discover that you can learn new things from each other through your differences. Who knows, you might make a new friend!

Question

Have you ever seen kids stare or speak rudely to someone because that person was different? How did that make you feel? How do you think that made God feel?

Prayer

God, sometimes I don’t know what to say or do when I see someone who looks or acts different from me. Please help me know how to be kind and loving, just like You are! Amen.

Activity

Write down or talk with a loving grown up about five things you could say when you see a person being treated rudely because they are different. Then write down or talk about something you could do to help that person feel included.
