Different: A Great Thing to BeSample
Made in God’s Image
She’s a fun-loving kid, much like you and me,
but she’s also quite Different, a great thing to be!
Devotion
Did you know that you and each one of your friends was made in God’s image? That means that you and your friends and everyone else you know help us see God’s love and creativity and beauty in a different way. No one helps us see God in the same way you do. And no one helps us see God in the same way your best friend does. Isn’t that amazing?
Question
Would you rather be friends with someone who is exactly like you or someone who is different from you? Why?
Prayer
Dear God, thank you for creating us to reflect Your love. Help me to see Your image in my friends! Amen.
Activity
Make a list by yourself or with a grown-up of all the words you can think of to describe God. Here are a few ideas: loving, creative, kind, generous, gentle….
As you think about those words, think about ways you show those characteristics of God to others. Are you especially kind? Do you really love nature? God created you in that way to show parts of Himself to the world!
Now look at your list again and think about ways your friends or family members reflect God’s image too. Write the names of your friends next to the traits of God and notice how you see God in the lives of your friends.
